The Ute Pass neighborhood includes the section of Highway 24 between Manitou Springs and Cascade-Chipita Park. With amazing natural beauty and the convenience of mountain activity just outside the door, Ute Pass remains a popular choice for commuters who work in either Woodland Park or Colorado Springs.
Anyone who loves the Rocky Mountains will immediately fall in love with the Ute Pass area. Beginning as a wagon trail in the 1860s, the pass was later used as an important railroad for moving materials to and from mines in the Colorado Rockies. Today, Colorado Highway 24 provides everyone with the opportunity to climb the pass in their own personal vehicles. Outdoor activities make Ute Pass stand out as unique from every other neighborhood in Colorado Springs. Hurricane Canyon Natural Area provides miles of trails and open spaces, including the Manitou Incline. However, the summit of Pikes Peak holds the best view on the Front Range and can be reached through a drive up the Pikes Peak Highway, a hike up Barr Trail, or a ride on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. For the more adventurous, the Cave of the Winds features a variety of underground tours for the whole family. Garden of the Gods and Red Rock Canyon Open Space are just a short drive to the east. All of the state’s natural beauty can be experienced through rock climbing, mountain biking, or just a casual stroll through these parks.
Although local amenities are limited, residents can find the Ute Pass Library, Winery at Pikes Peak, and Santa's Workshop at the North Pole theme park. Department stores, movie theaters, and other amenities can be conveniently accessed in Woodland Park or southwest Colorado Springs. Additionally, the nearby City of Manitou Springs offers a local library, pool, and fitness center that Ute Pass residents can utilize, as well. The award-winning School District 14 serves the youth of Manitou and Ute Pass through two elementary schools, Manitou Springs Middle School, and Manitou Springs High School. Each week, the Manitou Springs City Council holds either regular meetings or work sessions, all of which are open to the public. Other city services include free shuttle rides and quarterly newsletters.
